Boudhanath Stupa

The Bouthdhanath Stupa was built in the 5th century by King Mana Dev. The stupa is located in the north-east of Kathmandu city and is 8 km away from the city on traditional way to Lhasa. The significance of Boudhanath Stupa is that it contains the mortal remaining of Kashyapa Buddha, the predecessor of Gautama Buddha. The base of the stupa has octagonal shape. At the base, one can see 108 images of the meditating Buddha. The umbrella of Nirvana is erected atop the hemispherical tomb. Many Tibetan monks are seen in the nearby monastery.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

The Durbar Square in Kathmandu is the most important spiritual site in the city. While going around the Durbar Square, one can enjoy the views of the Royal Palace, Pagodas, temple of the Living Goddess, Kumari House and courtyards. The Wooden Temple (Kasthamandap) of Durbar Square is made of wood from Sal tree. This temple was built in the year 1596 by Raja Lachmina Singh. The temples of Durbar Square were built by the Malla Kings in 12th century and later in 18th century. The golden Ashok Binayak temple is situated on the north side of Durbar Square.

Pasupatinath Temple

Pasupatinath temple is the most famous Hindu shrine in Kathmandu. In this temple, Hindus worship Lord Shiva in two forms – Mahadev and Pasupati. Pasupatinath Temple is a Pagoda situated 5 km north-east of Kathmandu and is on the banks of Bhagmathi river. This 17th century pagoda is made of brass, gilt and silver plates.

Narayanhiti Palace Museum

In the year 2008, The Royal Palace of Kathmandu was converted into Narayanhiti Palace Museum when Nepal was no more a monarchy. The palace museum is located in the centre of Kathmandu city. The palace is spread over 30 hectares of land and is surrounded by gate controlled walls.

Patan Durbar Square

Patan is a royal city situated in the Kathmandu valley. The Patan Durbar Square is well known for its architecture, metal statues and carvings on stones and wood. The city has a tradition of arts and handicrafts. Patan is one among the oldest Buddhist cities in the world. The former royal palace houses the museum. The Patan Durbar Square consists of ancient palaces, temples and shrines. The major attractions here are the Patan museum, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, Golden Temple, Mahabouddha Temple, Golden Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Window.

Swayambhunath Stupa

Swayambhunath Stupa is the most popular Buddhist shrine in Kathmandu. This Stupa is situated in the west of Kathmandu city. Swayambhunath Stupa is situated atop the Padmachala hill at an altitude of 175 m above the valley. Swayambhunath Stupa was built 2000 years ago. The stupa can be reached by climbing 400 steps. The Stupa is 10 m high with a diameter of 20 m. The hemispherical mount is white color and it represents earth, water, wind and fire.

4:15 PM: Drive back to Hotel
