Bhaktapur is a famous city in Nepal situated in the east of Kathmandu. Bhaktapur is the third largest city in Kathmandu valley. Bhaktapur Durbar Square
The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is also known as the Palace of 55 Windows. The entrance to the palace is known as the Golden Gate. The golden gate was built by King Ranjit Malla. Various deities and monsters are embellished on the gate. This palace was built in the 17th century. The balcony with 55 windows is the most attractive part of this palace. The wood carvings of the balcony are marvelous. The stone temple of Batsala Devi is a part of the Durbar Square. This temple is full of unique carvings and Batsaladevi temple is the best example of Shikhara style architecture. The giant bronze bell on the terrace of the temple is known as the “bell of barking dogs.”  Apart from Batsala Devi temple, the other prominent parts of Bhaktapur Durbar Square are Lion Gate, statue of King Bhupatindra Malla and the picture gallery. The statue of King Bhupatindra Malla is very famous and the king is in the worshipping posture and is erected on a column against the palace.
Changunarayan
The well known ancient temple, Changunarayan is situated atop a hill known as Dolagiri. The temple is in the middle of a forest of Champaka trees. The temple is surrounded by a small village known as Changu village. Changu Narayan temple is 4 km away from Bhaktapur city, towards the north. This is the oldest Vishnu temple in Kathmandu valley. This temple is considered as the most beautiful and historically the most important temple in Kathmandu valley. Inside the temple, one can find beautiful carvings of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Apart from the Vishnu shrine, the other shrines in this temple are Ganesh, Krishna, Shiva and Kali.
Nagarkot
Nagarkot village of Bhaktapur is situated 32 km east of Kathmandu. Those who visit Nagarkot enjoy the spectacular views of the Annapurna range in the east and Mt. Everest in the west. Tourists from all over the world visit Nagarkot to enjoy the views of the picturesque landscape as well as the snow-capped mountain ranges. Nagarkot is at an altitude of 2195m from sea level. Nagarkot is 30 minutes drive from Bhaktapur and 45 minutes drive from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
